Playing catch up

I've decide to *try* and post twice a week. Most likely Tuesdays and Thursdays as these are my home days now. With Will at 3yo Preschool in the afternoons it should give me time to post something.

Ha ha ha let's see how long that will last snickers all!

In case you missed them in the galleries that I post in, here are my CT LO's for the month of February!

My little track and field star

On the weekend we had the Little Athletics Southside Carnival. AJ competed in 5 events, 100m, 50m, 70m, discus and long jump. We were very proud of him. In his age group he placed 7th overall in the discus, missing out in a place for the regional carnival by one; 9th overall for the 100m, 9th overall for 50m, ran the final in the 70m and finished 7th overall; and finished 6th in the long jump placing him in the team for the regional final for under 7 boys long jump.

Here's a couple of action shots! Oh and that funny blue thing - that's the discuss ;)

I used these cute little cluster frames from Tara Dunstan Designs, they can be found at the pickleberrypop shop under Clustered Frames !

This one's for you, Amanda!

I was chided by "Odd Job Amanda" for being way too slow in my blog postings .... life sure does get in the way of a blog post!

So what has happened recently in the life a damsel like me? I now have two boys at school. Will is at 3yo preschool for 5 hours a week and I *think* I start work on Monday. Woah - yep work - the hardest thing was gettng my CV together and making it sound interesting considering I haven't been in full time paid work since 2000 and casual work since 2004. And of course trying to find a referee who was still contactable. In the end I was able to find one plus I have also asked the teacher in charge of the preschool to be a character referee. It is now a waiting game - my CV has been looked at and I heard that the HR manager was suitably impressed (phew) and final decisions are being made.

In between I have been scrapping (well der), being mum the taxi driver between schools and Little Athletics events and play dates and doing all those endless chores (washing, ironing, cleaning). Oh and I had a birthday too ;)

Is that enough now Amanda?

Getting our own back

IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN AUSTRALIA DID NOT PURCHASE A
DROP OF PETROL FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD
CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.

AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A
NET LOSS OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL
COMPANIES.

THEREFORE FRIDAY FEBRUARY 22nd HAS BEEN FORMALLY
DECLARED ‘STICK IT UP THEIR ASS DAY’ AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT
BUY A SINGLE DROP OF PETROL THAT DAY. THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF
YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY
AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.

WAITING FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE
PRICES ? IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND
CONTROL IN PRICES THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED LONG AGO?
THE PRICES JUST KEEP GOING UP AND WE NEED TO STOP IT

PETROL PRICES ARE CAUSING OTHER EFFECTS; AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR
PRICES, AS ARE TRUCKING COMPANIES . THIS INCREASES PRICES ON
EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING,
BUILDING SUPPLIES MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO! WE CAN
MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY,WE WILL DO IT
AGAIN AND AGAIN. SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO
EVERYONE YOU KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND
MAKE
FEBRUARY 22nd
THE DAY CITIZENS OF AUSTRALIA SAY 'ENOUGH IS ENOUGH'

Look at what I made!

Here's something I created - not so sure it is that practical - but it will do the job for me. My disc box was full, plastic and boring. So I though about what I could do about it and I came up with the idea of using a craft board album with disc sleeve pages.

So here's my little hybrid disc folder.

Have you ever had those times when you just want to king hit someone? Well that moment came tonight - but I have worked through it and nobody will get hurt! DH said at sometine that he would have to work this afternoon. Hmm try 8:00pm tonight. At first he said that it wouold be from home and only half an hour - well now he is at his office and it is beyond that half hour. It also MY night - the one where he takes the two oldest to sleep in the caravan and watch a DVD while I do what I want. HA HA HA HA well, I'm in the caravan with Finding Nemo, a owl of pop corn, two boys and my laptop. GRRRRRRR!

whistling a little tune and playing dumb

Why? I know sumthn' and I can't tell you yet! Exciting news for me anyway. When I can spill the beans I will.

What did I do for DSD? I made a quick page over at SBB - kinda proud of myself on that. This is it here ==>

I based this on another LO I had made which you can see here in my gallery at PBP.

Yesterday was a public holiday in Canberra - a make up holiday to replace a labour picinic day that was scrapped by the new IR laws. It was a "family" day but really it is a Melbourne Cup Day holiday. We took the kids to a friend's place for afternoon tea and a play - we completely forgot that the race was on.

Take...um...three...or...four...

Well there you go ANOTHER new blog banner - once again reinventing the wheel so to speak.

Time just seems to get away from me. I have not posted anymore CT LO's for Chris Turnball and sadly now she has retired. Sad sad news there (although old news now). I have completely missed the boat with October and the whole excitement on being on Kaye Winecki's CT as a guest. Anyways if you look to the side ====> you'll see my "Creating Resume" with blinkies underneath click on that designer and you'll get to my gallery.

Well have updated the look of my blog. Why? Because I can. I need to fix up a couple more things and should be done.

You know when you have one of those weeks? I seem to be having one of them. DH has been extremely busy with work taking on the work load of three. This means that we are not sharing school/preschool drop offs in the morning so poor AJ as been late pretty much everyday. Even when we have to just drop him off. They seem to sense that I am stressed and they are behaving accordingly. I can completely understand why some animals eat their young at birth!

I actually lost it this morning and cried as I drove to school - I was just so fed up with their antics. Timmy was revved up as it was his first kinder orientation morning so it didn't help matters. AJ refused to put his shoes on because he hadn't has his milk. Oh and Will had pooed his nappy (I changed him when we got to school).

Timmy had a great morning with the activities they did with the three kinder teachers. Will wasn't too bad either - I only had to take him outside once for a walk.

We have Little Athletics this afternoon instead of the usual Saturday morning. I hope DH makes it in time - I don't particularly feel like wrangling Timmy and Will around the oval by myself while AJ is competeing.

Hmmm.

Oh yeah Happy Birthday Mum for today and Happy Birthday to Dad for Wednesday.

Tuesday, August 21, 2007

Oh me oh my!

Don't faint YES I made a post!

I have been busy - ADSR and CT'ing and in between being a mother, wife and friend! I have heaps to post but not the time. But for now I give you my Fairy name!

Your fairy is called Tangle Goblintree
She is a bringer of riches and wealth.
She lives at the bottom of tangled gardens and in hedgerows.
She is only seen when the first leaves fall from the trees.
She wears tangled dresses of multicoloured petals. She has gentle green wings like a butterfly.

It's not all about scrapping!

Spent almost all of yesterday sorting out boxes. Sorted out all of the boys baby clothes into what is being kept and what is being sold/given to charity. I have most of it listed on Essential Baby but have more to go, mostly the brand name stuff like Pumpkin Patch and the really new stuff worn for a season only by Will. Have had a few replies already which is good, but it has made me realise how expensive it is to post things in this country!! Started on the toys too, but will wait for the clothes to sell first.

I've also put up two links on my side bar to two Aussie businesses, one an online hamper business called Hobby Hampers which totally rocks and is owned by a friend of mine and the other is a brand new online children's clothing store called Sassy Kids also owned by a friend of mine.

So now you know!

So now it is June.....

The yo yo effect

Wednesday I got a fanatstic thrill, which is very exciting to say none the less, the subject I cannot reveal until next month! SOOOO excited to share! Today I went the other way. There was an incident at my son's school today that left me feeling quite sick to my stomach. That topic will not be shared here, for privacy reasons.

I took Will and Tim for hair cuts today and it cost $32 for the pleasure. Ouch! Will be looking for a cheaper barber that's for sure. Will now looks like a 3 yo instead of a 2 yo and Tim's curls are all but gone. HMMMMM.

Unconditional love

I have been amazed at the amount of generousity in the digi scrapping world. Deb F lost her husband quite tragically last week and there has been nothing but love and support for her and her family. Over at Pickleberrypop if you purchase anything from Deb's range this month (May) all of the money goes straight to her, no fees, no comissions. This will help her and her family out with funeral costs etc. Click on this blinkie and it'll take you there!Buy Deb F!!

I scored myself a free kit by registering over at Not Just Digital Scrapbooking! which I was pretty chuffed about. I picked up a kit by Dianne Rigdon called Fresh Start. While I was checking out Dianne's stuff at
shabby elements I found a cool tutorial on painting shadows, looks so much better than plain old drop shadows from the drop down menu in PSE4 that's for sure. If you look at the lO below I had a go at doing them myself.

Really need to get off the old buttski and get n with the housework. I have AJ's birthday party to cook for on Friday, so today I want the house clean and tidy so all I do on Friday is cook/ice the cake and make salads for Saturday's BBQ.

Tum te tum tum

Hmmmmmm.

Have been seriously put out this week. My darling other half took the modem to work as his work one was stuffed. He didn't bring it back. He bought a new one the next day to replace it and it would not cooperate with the firebox. He also did not have the IT guy's mobile to ring for help, so we had to wait until work on Monday to get it right. I guess I shouldn't complain too much as it is his work that pays for our home ADSL. I was just majorly concerned as I really wanted to get a subscription to atomic cupcake before their prices went up. I scraped in so now I have some new actions to play with.

Yippee!

As for the children, Will has been saying new words EVERY day! Cracking us up with what comes out. the funniest is hen he tries to say Scoop and it comes out poop with an exhalation through his nose at the end. I'll try to record it and put up a sound bite if I can.

Timmy has been gettig better with his TT. He can go the whole day without wetting his pants now. FINALLY. Just got to get those poos in order. He can go the whole day at preschool and then as soon as he comes home. Whammo there it is smelly and disgusting in his undies. GROSS.

AJ is back at school. Loves school. He came home today and told me we had to walk to school on Friday as it is walk to school day. I don't think he realises the distance that involves! We have a compromise, we will drive part of the way and walk the rest. His cross country race is that morning too so I don't really want him too tired to run.

We have a new fur kid too. A hooded rat. Just haven't come up with a mane that sticks yet. Timmy has called him Mouse, I call him Whatsit, mostly he just gets called the rat.

Must go and peel some vegies. I am being all domestic and cooking a roast pork.

Toot toot

LO of the day clickchicdesigns how cool!

How sweet he is!

I was woken in the wee hours this morning by Will. Cimbed out of his cot and then thumped down the hall to our bedroom. Picked him up and snuggled him in the crook of my arm, where he promptly fell asleep with his arm cuddling me. Sigh! Such a precious moment. His little face was so angelic, I wish my eyes were a camera to take a photo. I guess I did take a photo with my eyes, that image of him sweetly sleeping in my arms is burnt onto my heart forever.

Hello stranger!

Remember me?

I am so hopless in keeping up to date with my blog.

How can it be April? Not fair, Will turned two in March. AJ and Tim have just finished term one of kinder and preschool.

I need to find motivation, not just here on my blog, but IRL too. I just don't seem to get anywhere these days. House is a sty, always, no matter how hard I try to keep it tidy. I just have not seemed to find my groove at all this year.

Does anyone know where motivation is hiding? Come out come out where ever you are!

Happy Birthday to ME!!!!!!

Over the hill now! Chuckle! Not much of a special morning for me, the usual, get the kids up fed, dressed and off to school. My lovely other half bought home flowers for me last night, and my present was nicked, Will ran off with it saying Thank You (how cute at that age) he was interceped by his older brothers who the preceeded to help me unwrap and read the cards. AJ was reluctant to go to with his kinder class this morning, even though he was keen to get there on time. I left him in tears on the floor after he tried to crash tackle me as I left. :( I hope his day improves.

Being my birthday I thought I would share what I have been working on, there is more to come as well. I call this "patchwork angel". If you desire this kit, don't forget to leave some luvn' after you click here to download.

Umm...Merry New Australia Day?

Kinda gotten lost in all the end of and new year hype and lagged with the old blog. Time has flown and it is almost Australia Day, end of holidays and the start of the school year. Yikes! AJ starts kinder soon and Timmy might be off to preschool. We had every intention of starting Tim at preschool, but he still hasn't toilet trained yet. We are thinking of postponing his enrolment for a term or even maybe another year.

Have plans for this blog to start sharing some of my digi scrap ideas - papers and some elements that I have been working on for awhile.

What news? Well, let's see, I'ver started training for a half marathon although my training has become quite slack in the last week as the temp rises here and added to some really bad nights (kids/dogs/heat) I have opted to sleep instead of getting up early to run. I am inspired to do so, my nephew Ben is training for the paraolympic rowing team and has to put in some hard yakka -and he was quite impressed that I was giving it a go. Now he's doing it tough!

Phew it is hot in the study! I need to get motivated and get some housework done instead of this lolly gagging ;)

My Turn!

Feel a bit like I am following the crowd with this but what the hey! Have been making my Christmas cards using other people's templates so I thought I would give it a whirl. Here's my take on a Christmas card template.

This is what it could look like. Credits go to ScrapCloud Designs for their Mittens and Marshmallows Mega Kit. Font used was Gaelic Condensed.

accidental photos

We went to Cotter with Mum and Dad on Sunday and naturally I took some photos. What I got was some unexpected results. Still new to my camera I still genaerally take my photos on auto so I assumed that the camera was still on full auto. The night before my darling man had been playing around with the settings and had left them at that.

This is what I got, these are as is, so I might do some level adjustments later but I thought these were pretty cool.

ohh Timothy!

It's good thing that you are so darn cute. But not last night or should I say this morning. You woke up and snuggled in with me at about 2 am, but you couldn't settle. You wriggled and jiggled and squirmed your little heart out. Then you got out of bed went to the lounge and turned on the light. I know I heard! You came back to bed and wriggled and jiggled and squirmed your little heart out. I got up and went to the loo. You got up and started to have melt down "I don't like it", no neither do I. You went back to the lounge and I follwed with blankie and the bear, tried to convince you than it was time for bed, but you wanted the TV on. NO. I explained that the birds were asleep and the tress were asleep and the toys were asleep, you agreed the crocodile was asleep and so was the cushion, but that car over there was awake! I went back to bed.

Before I could fall asleep Will wakes up for his usual booby cuddle. Guess who wouldn't go back to sleep either. At least he was happy to be in his cot cuddling his teddy bear with me beside him listening to his musical aquarium.

Timmy had crashed by then so I poped him back into bed.

Guess who was WIDE AWAKE?

I made a hot choccie and then went to bed at 5 am.

twang twang twang

Geeze the old dulcimer is a bit tuneless! Hasn't been played for awile. Oh well you get that.

It feels like a lifetime ago when I posted on PBP that I would put up my button templates. Well here is the first. This is the butterfy one. I have set it up as a layered tiff file and intructions are included. I designed these on PSE4, so the instructions are for PSE4, however I am sure most of you will manage to adapt them to your own preferred program.

Here are some examples of what you can do with it. Different backgrounds and bevel depths will change the charatcer of the button.

Click here to download this button maker template. Let me know how you go, both postitivve and negative feedback welcome. Have fun!

I'm so sleepy....

Not getting enough REM sleep so I am totally exhausted. Will has been teething all week and chooses to do so in the middle of the night. I thinl he spends more time in bed with us than in his cot. Two more eye teeth to go, so hopefully another two weeks of this and then SLEEP! AJ has been bed hopping too. The other morning he came up to me about 5 am whining where's my blankie? Huh? go look in your bed! Not there. Where's my blankie? Did you take him to the toilet? I don't know. You look mummy. No you. I can't find blankie! (insert inappropriate thoughts from my head). I get out of bed, look and there is blankie in his bed. ARRGGHH!!!!

Happier note, I bought a new camera! So be warned, an influx of photos coming this way!

Here's is my lastest, my inspiration was some fancy camera work on a TV show called Top Gear (a car show on SBS), this is where I got the idea of splitting and tinting the photo.

I wanted bubbles, and couldn't find any quickly so I made my own brush. Here it is. I am quite proud of my effort.

A letter to Aunty Kit

I was inspired to scrap this page after reading Faer's blog and downloading the latest PBP mega kit freebie by Heather's d.r.e.a.m.. Faer has been making some really nice sketches available to download. The one I used was called Letter Sketch, and combined with Heather's part of the mega kit I came up with this LO of my Great Aunt Kit. I altered and coloured the heart to match the ribbon buckle. She always had the most beautiful and stunning stationary and the paper's in Heather's kit remind me of my favourite aunty.

Writing the journaling was quite cathartic for me, it bought back some memories for me that I had not thought of for a long while. I was crying during the process, I really do miss her. Kit was a very special lady. She had experienced a vaired and rich life. She was an "old school" teacher and had some very strong opinions on life. She was never idle. She had some wonderful stories to tell us. Even when she was "elderly" she kept up with her calisthenics. Her favourite phrase was "now let me give you some advice". She was even in a buliding society advert in Newcastle where she was recorded talking about surfing there.

Just thinking about her again has brought tears to my eyes. Here's to you Kit!

So sick of being sick

Yep that's it so sick of it all. As soon as one child gets well another gets sick and now I am as well. One week down of antibiotics and another week to go for me. I have a stupid bacterial infection in my throat and it has really knocked me out. My darling J came down with it yesterday and got AB's as well. Not happy, he cannot afford time off work - he has some deadlines for work this week.

Some exciting news for me down at clikchicdesigns I am a finalist in the August colour challenge! If you really want to you can vote for me here .

Life is pretty busy here, we went to Wakefield Park (Golbourn) Monday to watch a friend drive his civic around the track. All the boys had fun (even the biggest) who had a chance to drive around at high speeds.

I am busy preparing for a big gathering at my place in September. I am hosting a rather large BBQ for my internet mother's group. There are families coming form NSW, QLD and VIC. I am getting really excited as some of us will be meeting for the first time after chatting to each other for 2 years over the net.

"POP"

The sound of me pulling my finger out.

My slide is updated except for one scrap LO. Try and work out the new ones! I will howeverpost two of them because I am mighty pleased with them and just love the kit I used for them. There will be more of these comming soon.

Credit goes to Faer Oak for her beautiful faer haven grand opening kit (available at the pickleberrypop shop). It was almost as if she had designed this kit for my wedding photos only. I was only just a few weeks ago actually thinking of making my own papers to go with my wedding photos and voila! here's this fabulous kit!

This one you can really see how well the greens go well with Ali's dress. Ahhhh. Beautiful.

Have some photos of the weekend that will be up later on, but Will beckons with a wail, it is lunchtime........

Monday, July 31, 2006

I am the great procrastinator.....

When I should be doing the housework here I am.....

I am just so tired today, Will would just not sleep by himself last night and had to sleep on top of me for most of the night.

I have scraped a few more LO's which I need to upload on to my slideshow above.

It's funny when it rains it pours so to speak. I joined up at clik chic designs
last week and then also find out a few days later another Aussie site has just started. I was very fortunate to be invited to have a sneak peek at pickleberrypop. Congrats to all that founded PBP, I hope your ventures succeed.

So now I have two Aussie shops to shop from. YAY! I feel very odd about buying things over the internet so this is my compromise, I only buy from Aussie sites!

Are we there yet?

Was the constant question all the way to Lake Macquarie Friday night. AJ managed to stay awake the whole trip from Canberra to Toronto, where he fell asleep at the freeway exit. He awoke about 20 mins later when we arrived at my parent's place all full of beans. He went to sleep about half an hour later, but both Timmy and Will stayed awake until 2 so excited to be at Nanna's.

We had a nice time just staying there and playing in the backyard. AJ and Tim have become adventurous and ride the tricycles down the slope from the garage to the house screaming with delight. Tim tried the neighbours concrete driveway and I think left little skiddies in his nappy - Daddy said his face was horrified!

I managed to get a little recreational shopping with my mum - now a 6 monthly stint, instead of once a month!

I managed to meet up with a few friends I have made on the internet through my online mother's group. That was nice. We plan to make a big meet up one day soon with as many as we can.

Will has been sick with a virus, he had a high temp on Sunday and all he wanted was to be cuddled all day. He has a rash on his chest and back which the GP said it was related to the virus and it would go away in a couple of days. It looks just like a measles rash.

We arrived back on Tuesday to a freezing house. We got the gas connected on our central heating (which was installed on Friday) and are now all toasty warm.

Have some photos from the weekend I must post up when I can find my download cable.

Tuesday, June 20, 2006

Are you my mother?

No but I wish I was! I found this little guy on Saturday afternoon, I heard him sounding very distressed on Friday and was able to coax him down from the tree on Saturday.

He reminds me so much of our dear lost Cookie who flew away last year after being startled off my shoulder. He is sitting on my head right now preening away. I wonder if his owners are looking for him?

Watch this space!

OK I wasn't so happy with the filmloop I had in my profile, so now I have a slide show!! Thank you so much Retta! I am a complete and utter nuffer when it comes to setting up my blog so I had to ask for help from my e-friends at Scrap 'n Chat.

So now it is off to fix up my banner for the top and the a few other things and that will do until I become more adventurous!

Timmy the tornado

Wow, this week has been a week for Timothy to be revoltingly naughty. He has scribbled all over the screen of my lap top with pencil. I cleaned that off. He trampled all through the garden beds after planting seeds and telling him not to. He spilled cordial over both lounges and the floor rug early one morning (we were all still in bed). He pulled off almost all the keys from laptop - I caught him doing this and as he pulled a key off he threw it over his shoulder saying "whoopsidaisy". I have all the keys back on bar the backspace. Grrr. He spilled milk on the rug yesterday morning (once again he was wake and we were still in bed). So now I am getting up with him. 5:30 am when most mornings here are still in the minus. BRRRRRR!

I hear him browsing the fridge - I'd better go and rescue what ever he is holding hostage.

Film loop up in my profile

Well it took me almost all of yesterday to do it, but here it is, all of my scraps to date (except for the ones I haven't quite finished). You have to click on the link in my profile to view. You have to download filmloop to view it. Sorry about the ads but that's what you get with freeware! Just fastforward until you see them!

Forgive me blog, I have not posted in so long....

Wow time has flown. Zoom, zoom, zooma, zoom, zooooom!

Loads has happened, AJ turned five, Will learnt to walk and we moved house.

Have heaps of photos and scraps to post. I am making a slide show of my scraps to put up here as a permanent fixture, just have to get my finger out of the many other things that seem to be tying up my time, like unpacking and caring for three boys!

I have a software dilemma, I have now used both demos of CS2 and PSE4 and I cannot decide which ne to choose, so I am stuck using my very old and outdated version of PS, sucks man.

Time is against me now, AJ wants to play jigsaws and Will is making grumpy noises - the kind that mean I really want to go to sleep and I want a feed too!

Back in another few months (hopefully sooner) HA HA HA!
