Mad Genius Designs June CU Grab Bag is out now at Digiridoo Scraps! This CU grab bage has two set of grunge overlays and a set of flower brushes.

I combined all of these together with Pattern Genius Volume One - Commercial Use and Brush Genius Volume Two - Commercial Use to come up with a cute mini I have called "Watersprite".

The colours I used were from a pallete for the June Go For Pinks (or blues, or...) colour challenge at DSDI.

I had a huge play with them and came up with a mini kit using this pallet.

Which is from this month's Go For Pinks colour challenge at DSDI.

I used the layered damask for a couple of papers, one of the frames and the paper borders. I really love how the paper borders came out!

I used the grunge set for all of the papers.

I used this brush set on the green paper to really grunge up the edges.

Mad Genuis Designs Texture Tuesday offeres texture freebies every week. I picked up these last week.

DSDI March Go for Pinks (or blues, or ...) colour challenge had a big palette to play with so I combined the texture plates with some photos of muddy splats on a car bonnet that I had. Several blend modes, gradient levels, and CU card and paper overlays, I came up with these.

Cute Kit. Bright, fun and so scrappable. The colours are soft but not too girly and variety of plain and patterned papers.

I put it to the test using DSDI's March Made in the Shade template challenge.

Perfect for these photos of AJ on his first day of preschool way back when ...

Curried Sausage for One?

Tonight the man of my life is eating a ?delicious? airline meal enroute home from Melbourne - lucky him.

Me - I had curried sausage for one. Kids had sausages and salad. I'm not a real big fan of them unless they are BBQ'd served with fried onions slavered in tomato sauce and wrapped in buttered white bread.

So in the fridge I found some korma paste and some cream. A spoon of paste and several of cream cooked together in the microwave (ooh yeah go the gourmet chef tonight) Chucked in some cherry tomotoes from the garden and cooked them some more. Once the sausage was cooked I chopped it up and mixed it in with the sauce. What serve with you ask? Deb of course! Tasted fine :) Could of done with some peas but what they hey?

Continuing with my pledge of cooking something different, last Thursday I poached atlantic salmon in pinot gris and served it with oven roasted veges.

Carbonara sauce is something I make quite regularly - I remember once at uni trying to do this dish and thinking it was quite complex to do. Not any more.

So fry up some bacon until it is crispy and remove all but about 1 tablespoon of the fat from the pan. Toss in a pinch of paprika and 1/2 cup of cream.

Mix one egg and an extra yolk with grated parmesan cheese - about 30g will do.

Cook up and drain your pasta. I usually do tortellini. Toss in a tablespoon of butter. Mix in the bacon and cream. Mix in the egg and cheese, turn the heat back on to low to just cook the egg.

hmmm no wonder I have belly fat :-))

I am a little behind in my enabling for this month - for some reason I kept running out of time, and my old blog is always last my list. So I've set aside mt morning to do so - kids have been dropped off to school, I've collected the mail and taken the dogs for a walk. I've just put the cow on for a coffee and Muse is blaring from my speakers. Time to enable :)

I love the colours in this kit.

I used the glitter styles and cardstock styles to make the frame and the alpha.

The alpha used on this page is by Little Red Scraps from a kit that also uses the same colour pallet, called Love You Forever, which is sadly not available anymore. Maybe when Jane is feeling better, she will start designing and selling again.

The second one I based the template on for February's Made In The Shade template challenge that I am hosting at DSDI this month.

DSDI's February guest designer is Kat's Creations. I've had the pleasure of using Insane Moments, which is a collab with Spinkydink Scraps.

Daphadilly Art has a cute little blue mini called Sweet and Free.

It was just perfect for this picture of Will.

I am not a foodie - honest!

I am trying to cook something new at least once a month - I would like to do try once a week but I just don't think that is viable for me!

Last night I made caramelised pork belly and with my love's encouragement I plated it up almost like the glossy mag pic.

So I had about 750g of pork belly which I removed the rind and cut into little 3cm pieces. I stir fried in my wok until browned and the tossed in a few cloves of chopped garlic which was also stir fried for about a minute. 1 + 1/2 cups of water, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 tbs kecap manis, 1 tbs soy sauce, 2 whole star anise were all added and brought to the boil. I reduced the heat and cooked for about an hour stirring when needed. You are supposed to bring the heat back up and boil to thicken the sauce, but mine had already thickened by then.

I served on a bed of rice, and topped with thin slices of shallots and chilli, and corriander and mint leaves. He who hates corriander had continental parsley instead.

Will be having this one again! However I have to find an "alternative" for Mr fussy pants and Master I don't like it even when I really do. At least one delightful cherub asked when we would be having it again!

Some of you might know that I harbour a crush on the fictional character Alice Cullen, from the Twilight novels/movies. I tried to emulate but sadly failed *sniff, I did get the glittery skin thing happening with some sparkly body dust and I whitened my face with a mix of really pale foundation and talcum powder. Oh and of course there was no way I could tame my wild hair either.

I was a fun night though!!!

No, I just had a play with the DSDI April Colour challenge. The pallet was awesome - kinda beachy and earthy at the same time. I was insoired by my recent camping and 4WDing trip to Stockton Beach.

This is the colour pallet

I took loads of photos and was able to blend some of them into papers and do sone extractions as well.

The kids had fun playing with that float I can tell you!

Ironing is boring

I REALLY do not like ironing at all. HATE it. I leave it to pile up until DH is needing clothes for work ;) I had two full baskets to do - one of normal clothes and one full of new school uniforms which also needed name labels ironed on as well. I like name labels - unlike size labels which fade and you can't tell whose shirt it is anymore. So I had a bit of entertainment among the mundane ;) Except I melted the facing in one of the school hats :(. Meh. Crunchy bits.

Planning the trip to Uluru

Dh has long service due to him in May so we have decided to do a road trip to Uluru. I am very excited. We have the camper atlas out and have started the initial planning. The biggest issue so far is to go north to drop our dogs at mum's or have them transported up. Cost versus time. Ah well early days yet ;)

We have the most bizarrest weather over the last few days. Saturday we were sweltering with high humidity and had a couple of brief thunderstorms that did nothing much to reduce either humidity or temperature. Sunday was hot without the humidity and gusty windy. Today was just down right cold with an overnight temp of 10degC and a max of 19degC. Even the local alpine regions had a dusting of snow!! What the? In January? In Australia? As I said, freaky weather!!!

Typing is a bit tedious - you can't really touch type on this LOL!!!

Ready to be challenged?

OMGosh is it really NEW YEARS already? Well it is here in Australia - anyways ... I'm getting it up ready to go - AND I managed to get a page up in the gallery too - I am really going to try and be on top of my game this year - yeah right LOL!! :lol::lol:

I though that we would focus on attachments this month as our element challenge. How do you stick items down? Tape? Staple? Messy glue? Stitches? I would like to see you use a few different attachments in your page this month.

I went a bit overboard - I used staples, stitches, twine, even a safety pin ;) I tried the messy glue too, but it just wasn't a good look for this page here for a messy glue example.)

I still am battling with my lack of exercise and weight gain. :(

I was supposed to go to a cocktail party last week for work - NONE of my dresses fitted me and I did not want to go and buy a dress to cover it up.

I am going to Adelaide next weekend with darling beloved and I need a dress for the dinner out. I know I will not loose enough to get into anything so I bought one of those "slimming" undergraments - kinda like being squeezed into a sausage skin. I managed to look kinda OK in ONE dress. It is too high in the back for my favourite Diana Ferari cocktail dress and it also makes my chest look abnormal in it.

I have started slowly getting back into the fitness thing - for the last three weeks I have cycled to and from school on Wednesday afternoons, towing the bike trailer with Will on the way and Will and Tim on the way back. I also have started doing sit ups again too.

I stacked my bike big time yesterday. I took a turn too sharp and caught the trailer on a febce which of course stopped me in my tracks, having my feet in their straps I couldn't bail out quickly, so just fell off. I now have quite an impressive bruise on my upper left thigh!

I've been playing around with some hybrid Christmas decorations over the last week.

I found some really cool templates around on the net. The kaisercraft web site has some really great ideas that are adaptable for didi hybrid.

I've used Christie Lemmon Designs Christmas Shimmer for the papers, plus one element and a word art from the kit.

A couple of gift tags printed on 100gsm white, I fipped the images for back and front of the tags.

This is using a template form kaiser kraft - I love these!

An easy 3D star. Just add glitter!

I have one more hybrid project up my sleeve for Christmas.

That's me :( I have exploded. My fault no one to blame except my poor eating habits and lack of exercise. Look at that! My jeans are now too tight and EVERYTHING hangs over the top errgghh!

I have started to do something about it. I went for a huge 1 hour walk on Saturday up Mt Oakey and back, its a very steep walk up! I'll do it again on Wednesday morning, and then again on Friday morning. My first goal is to make it to the top without panting. A long way to go yet!

I just went looking for our new POS camera - DS #3 said DS #2 had it - which speaks volumes. Found it in the toy-room. So who used it? Well the evidence was on the memory card! Must say I am very impressed with the auto face detection mode!

Trying hard to keep a straight face, we sent him into time out for laying with our stuff while we were looking over the shots he took of him self. Hummmm ... scrap-worthy? Indeedy YES!

Using Radial Blur (PSE4)

I have had a few questions asking how did I do a particular effect on a photo recently. LO credits here!

After my usual contrast and colour adjustments, I did the following:

Used an oval shape to select what area I wanted to be clear and in focus. I droped the opacity down while I was positioning it over the photo.

I used the magic wand too to select the shape and selected the chose select and feather and 250px for the feathering.

I then chose the original layer and copied using the feathered selection. Remove or make invisible the shape layer.
I then chose the background layer and went to filter and selected Radial blur: amount 22, zoom and best.

Merge visible layers and you are ready to go.

Opperation Wobbly Bits

Going back to work has its pluses and its minuses. One of the biggies is my fitness or lack of. Two years ago I was running and training to particpate in a half marathon. I was most likely the fittest I had ever been even before children. With the boys spread between school and preschool I had no choice but to drive rather than walk as much. Somewhere along the line I stopped running too. Introduce me going back to work last year and less time to be active I've suddenly become Little Miss Tub. I'm short so I can't really hide too much weight.

I'm determined to get back to where I was. I have no set weight or measurements that I want to achieve, I'll know when I get there. I'll have abs instead of that wobbly thing called a tummy and hopefully my butt will relocate upwards. I think it is really only about 10kgs that I have to loose and the tuck shop lady arms (sorry Canteen Managers and helpers) but you know what I mean.

I weighed and measured myself today: 68kgs, 97cm bust, 81 cm waist, 95 cm hips.

... pause ...

I just did 20 sit ups - I used to be able to do 100 in one go :(

A camping we will go ...

Last Firday night we decided that it was camping weekend. Rang up the family of one of AJ's school friends and invited them to come.

We headed off to Micalong Creek Saturday arvo after Little Athletics.

Beautiful, not many people, and just about the perfect temp. The creek is shallow and rocky and just perfect for exploring. We think we found a platypus burrow.

AJ slept in the tent with his mate's family and they both were bitten by mozzies, you could of made an artwork joining the dots on their faces.

On Monday, by the time I got to work, the school had alreadu rung saying that AJ was sent to sick bay with suspected chicken pox! I knew I should of sent a note to school....

They boys had their own tent to play in, and to watch a DVD in!

We went for a walk on Sunday, and found a few wombat holes and some great rocks to climb on!

Gotta love a weekend away!
